REVEREND VERLON O. ANDERSON
REVEREND VERLON O. ANDERSON was appointed on 11-13-2016 as the 45th pastor of the historic Fair Promise African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (established in 1868) by Bishop Kenneth Monroe at the 137th Annual Session of the Central NC Conference that convened at Simon Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, Fayetteville.
Reverend Anderson, a native of Salisbury, North Carolina, is a Pastor, Preacher, Teacher, Spiritual Life Coach, husband, and father. He spent his early years in the public schools of Salisbury, North Carolina. Following graduation, he enlisted and served in the United States Navy's two-year program. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies from Livingston College, Salisbury, and his Master of Divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, NC.
Reverend Anderson's pastoral charges have also included service in the Cape Fear Conference as well as the Central NC Conference: Miller's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Goldsboro; Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church in Stantonburg, NC; Douglas Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Holly Springs; Kesler Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in Henderson, NC; Norrington A.M.E. Zion Church, Lillington, NC; and prior to his current pastorate at Fair Promise, Reverend Anderson served as pastor of Lock's Creek A.M.E. Zion Chiurch, Fayetteville, NC, for eight years (2008-2016).
Reverend Anderson is married to the former Jeryl Zachary of Hertford, North Carolina, whom he met while in college. They are the proud parents of one daughter, Rita Jeryl Anderson.
Reverend Anderson's life experiences, educational experience, and spiritual development have prepared him well for his (two-fold) mission and commitment in life - to transform lives and to impact communities by helping usher in the Kingdom of God.
